First let me start by saying I'm sorry about not uploading a new comic on Monday. I've been without internet since the 22nd and I am still without internet. Today I am using a computer at a friend's house to post this exciting newspost. Last Wednesday I left the safety of my home to venture north to Belleview, Washington where the Penny Arcade Expo was being held. Knowing that I would not be available to post a new comic on Monday, I had finished one up Tuesday night to send to WiGgY so he could upload it. He would have recieved it if my internet hadn't gone out 4 hours earlier.
The internet outage was the first in a series of unfortunate events. The second happend shortly after I had finished Monday's Comic around 11 pm tuesday the 22nd. I went out to my car to tape "West Coast Super Trip" Signs on my back windows when I suddenly realized that I didn't have my keys. So I turned around to go back into the house. Somehow I had managed to fucking lock the door on my way out, effectively trapping me outside. I spent about an hour ruining a perfectly good library card attempting to open the door. Having no success, I walked down the street to a payphone to call a locksmith(my stupid self had also left my cellphone in the house). The man on the phone told me it would cost $80 upfront in cash to unlock my door. Having only $20 on me I walked down to the local WaMu to pull some cash out of the ATM. My ATM card(wich I thought I had activated) would not work. The bank would not be open untill 9 am. so I walked back to my house. Luckily I had a plastic AAA car key in my wallet so I could sleep in my car. When I woke up in the morning I was able to go into the bank "activate" my ATM card(apparently it didn't really get activated) and I got some money, wich I used to pay a locksmith to let me into my house.
Thinking that I had gotten all of my bad luck out of the way, I began the long journy up the west coast to Belleview, Washington. I stopped at the bank first to pull out some more cash, but my god damned card wouldn't work. So I continuted on my way to the first Waypoint on the super trip in Newhall, CA. That is when I hit some really bad traffic on the 405. By the time I reached Newhall it was the scheduled time to leave. Since I wasn't actually picking anyone up there, I just stayed on the freeway and kept going. 5 hours later I was in a Fry's Electronics Parking lot in Sacremento, an hour ahead of schedule, waiting for other super tripers to arrive. I would be picking up two from here. I put some more oil in my car. So far so good. After most everyone from that waypoint had arrived we dove into a heated game of Mario Kart DS. Wich was really fucking awesome. 15 minutes behind schedule we reluctently put down our games, and headed off for more super trip awesomeness. Or so we thought. One guy from San Diego(A PAX Omeganought) skided off the road and crashed into a pole. Later my car leaked out all it's oil and the engine seized up. So I had to call AAA and have them tow us 10 miles up the road to a little mountain town called Weed, CA(my car is still there by the way) one 14 hour greyhound bus trip later we arrived in Seattle where we dashed across the street to catch a bus that would take us into Belleview. 12:30 am on Tursday the 24th we had arrived at the Hilton(formally the Doubletree) where we would be staying for the weekend.
I'll post more about the actual convention later.
